date --date="next day"     # Example: Sat Jan  2 00:05:45 EST 2010 

--date string can be given in English readable text format such as "next friday" will return the date for next Friday

date --date="next friday" # Example: Fri Jan  8 00:00:00 EST 2010

Another interesting command to in Linux is cal, look at bash command line calendar it's usage:

[root@opsfaqs ~]# cal
January 2010
Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa
                1  2
 3  4  5  6  7  8  9
